Almaty has a number of unique features that set it apart from other CIS cities. Here are a few aspects that make Almaty special:
- Nature and geographical location: Almaty is located at the foot of the Tien Shan Mountains, which gives the city a picturesque appearance. The mountains surrounding the city create a unique landscape and promote outdoor activities such as mountain hiking, skiing, etc.
- Almaty has a continental climate with distinct seasons. In summer temperatures can reach high values, and in winter the city is covered with snow, which makes it attractive for both summer and winter tourism.
- Culture: Almaty is home to different ethnic groups, which creates a multicultural atmosphere. Representatives of different nations coexist here in harmony, which is reflected in traditions, cuisine and festivals.
- Architecture: Almaty combines both modern buildings and historical architecture. Skyscrapers such as the Nurly Tau Tower and the Ritz Carlton Hotel can be seen next to old and traditional buildings, creating an architectural contrast.
- Approach to education and science: Almaty is an important educational and scientific centre of Kazakhstan with many universities and scientific institutes, which attracts students and researchers from all over the country and abroad.
