Dzhungar mountains and Zharkent town

GreenX Company presents a trip to the mountains of Southern Dzungaria. The change of landscapes, successful combination of locations of chalk canyons and mountain valleys, gorges allows the tourist to fully enjoy the beauty of the Zhetysu region.

The Dzungarian (Zhetysu) Alatau mountain range is located on the territory of two countries - Kazakhstan and China. Within the framework of the two-day trip we visit the southern part of Dzungarian Mountains, located in the vicinity of Zharkent city.
The programme includes acquaintance with the famous Zharkent mosque, tasting the traditional dish of Zharkent - lagman, climbing the landscape mountain valley-plato of Osek (Usek) River with a stunning view of the confluence of the tributaries of the river, a small trekking inside the chalk canyon "Valley of Sculptures".

Leaving Almaty we visit the mosque-museum located in the centre of Zharkent city. The mosque was built by order of intellectuals and business community of the city, the construction was supervised by Chinese architect Hong Pick, which affected the style and concept of the project, from the outside the mosque resembles a classical Chinese pagoda.

After visiting the mosque, lunch at the town cafe, refuel and drive to Osek River basin.
The way lies through a large mountain valley-jailau, at the end of the plateau there is an hour and a half walk at an altitude of 2,000 metres to the panorama of Osek River canyon.

After visiting the panorama of the Osek River, we return to the cars and descend to Zharkent town for dinner in a cafe.
On the second day a short trekking inside the canyon of the Valley of Sculptures in the vicinity of Koktal village, lunch in Zharkent and return to Almaty.

Programme and timings
Day one.
07:30. Departure from Almaty to Zharkent city (310 km).
09:30. Refuelling in Chilik village, sanitary stop.
12:00. Visit to Zharkent mosque-museum. The guide tells about the history of the mosque construction.
13:00. Lunch in Zharkent cafe.
14:30. Refuelling, departure to Zhailau-mountain valley.
15:30. Trekking to the panoramic point - confluence of Big and Middle Osek (1,5 km on foot at the height of 2 000 metres).
16:15. Photo stop.
16:45. Return to the cars.
17:30. Departure to Zharkent city.
19:00. Dinner in a cafe of the city.
20:30. Accommodation in a mini-hotel.
22:00. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day two.
08:00. Breakfast at the mini-hotel.
09:00. Departure to the tract "Sculpture Valley" (30 km).
10:00. Walk around the tract, visit to the panoramic point.
11:30. Departure to Zharkent city (30 km).
12:30. Refuelling.
13:00. Lunch in a cafe.
14:00. Departure to Almaty (310 km).
16:00. Sanitary stop in Chilik.
18:00. Arrival in Almaty.

Cost of participation in the trip:
180 USD for one guest in a group of 6 people, total 1 080 USD.
208 USD for one guest in a group of 5 people, total 1 040 USD.
225 USD for one guest in a group of 4 people, total 900 USD.
280 USD for one guest in a group of 3 people, total 840 USD.
360 USD for one guest in a group of 2 people, total 720 USD.
675 USD for individual tour.

The price includes:

• transfer by comfortable off-road vehicles (4 guests in the car), Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Land Cruiser 100, Toyota Sequoia, etc,
• services of Russian-speaking guide-driver,
• travel programme (please see the tour timing programme above),
• meals: lunch, dinner of the first day, breakfast, lunch of the second day of the trip,
• overnight stay in a double room of the mini-hotel for two guests,
• entrance tickets of the museum-mosque,
• drinking water for the trip participants (1.5 litres/guest per day).

There are provisions for children's participation in the trip:

• children from two to ten years old - 50% of the trip cost,
• children from eleven years of age and above - 100% of the trip cost.
